Keep it simple...

Wednesday, July 16, 2008 at Wednesday, July 16, 2008

Keep it your photo simple as you can.

Selamat mencuba...

Off Hot-Shoe Flash...

Sunday, June 15, 2008 at Sunday, June 15, 2008

I would like to share with you all out there a CLS session with my friends and Nadia. I know this technic quite some time ago. However I don't really understand how it works until Najib show me the basic of CLS and how to setup the CLS system in proper way. But the output I got here is not really creative la...

Warning, the photos below are not really an eye catching photos and it might hurting your eyes... Hehehe :)

All lighting setup done by najib. I just tumpang to shoot only.

My recent CLS shot taken at Pantai Cenang, Langkawi. 1 x SB 800 fired from my left side with power 1/8. I need to get a better diffuser to diffuse the light.

For those who are not really sure what is CLS, check out the video below..
In this video, the photographer will show you the basic wireless operation with a nikon SB 800 and pop flash cls-enabled camera.

He is using D200 camera. But there are others Nikon works a very similar way.
For instance, I am using D80 and the system work well with my dslr. Do check out your manual to find out more.

World in Motion...

The world is moving too fast. We've all gone insane trying to keep our pace...

Dunia Bergerak-Gerak

Dunia Bergerak-Gerak

Dunia Bergerak-Gerak

Guide to take above photos..
1) Flash - In this photo I'm using pop flash (definitely you can use your speedlite if you want) to freeze the subject.
2) Slow shutter - slow shutter between 1/5 - 1/30 is good enough to get the motion. You may try different setting of shutter speed to get the desire result.
3) While you press full shutter, rotate you camera clock wise or the other way around.
4) And make sure you have fun while doing this... Enjoy :D

Such a cool effect and I really like it. How bokeh can really fool our eyes... I have read about this effect/editing on DCM somewhere in last year. But recently I only managed to do this. Check this tutorial out and don't forget to start your own miniature..

Backyard Project

It's happen while I relaxing myself outside of my house, I spotted these beautiful mushroom on the dead coconut tree. At first I kinda lazy to bring out my equipment, somehow I do feel like I should not let go this kind of opportunity. At least I need no to go deep into the jungle to get those shots above.

So, basically I used Nikkor 55-200mm VR lens to take those shots. Zoom at 200mm and placing my camera on sturdy tripod. While the black cardboard I hang it on another tripod as a background (to stimulate as a dark background). Anyway, here I put the photos of my setup.

Make sure you check out your backyard. Maybe you'll find something interesting at the back there.

Modify Your Bokeh

Tuesday, November 27, 2007 at Tuesday, November 27, 2007

What is Bokeh?? Google and Yahoo much better explaining about the bokeh term. Just google for it. Ok, basically Bokeh is a is a photography term referring to the appearance of out-of-focus areas in an image produced by a camera lense (Read more here)

You probably have noticed that in the bokeh area (out of focus area) there are small round/hexagon shapes fill in the area(depend on the available lighting). These shapes is actually formed by diaphragm of your lens.

So this exercise is to modify your lens bokeh. It is really simple. What you need is a piece of black paper (paperboard), scissors or knife and glue. Cut a round shape as same diameter of your lens (this will be a lens filter), and create lens hood for your lens. In the middle of the filter, you need to cut out the shape that you prefer. The shape size is about 1cm to 2cm. Then attach it to the hood (We used UHU glue to glued). Yes.... your new lens filter is ready to use.....

By the way, you need a bigger aperture lens to get the good Bokeh (We were using Nikkor 50mm f1.8 for the below pictures).

The idea of doing this is originally taken from DIY Photography. Feel free to browse DIY Photography website. You'll find a lot useful DIY project.

We changed the T-Shirt blog again.... LOL . The previous template doesn't work well with IE. The widget bar simply go to the bottom of the page. This new template working perfectly with IE.

Obviously the more expensive the price is, the more good quality and sturdiness you will get. With tripod mount to camera, we can prevent from any movement that can cause your photo blur. Especially during the long exposure time.

Pastikan keselamatan diutamakan terlebih dahulu.

Kamera Oh Kamera

Monday, August 06, 2007 at Monday, August 06, 2007

Waaaah....

Actually, I'm not 100% agree on that. A camera merely tool for you to captured what your eyes see. The people behind the camera who will produce the great photo.

Cuma LCD camera sudah out of order).

Kalau rajin, flip over my old entry in my fotopages.

Asyik-asyik ambik gambar subjek berada di tengah-tengah gambar, cuba sekali-sekala off center pulak. Once you got to know the rule of third, your photo will never be the same.

Mastering your tool.

Manual Mode - Shutter 2.5" n Aperture F2.8 (Powershot A95)

So, share setakat apa yang saya tahu sahaja. Kalau ada sebarang pembetulan, amatlah dialu-alukan.

Last but not least, don't too fast throwing your money into dslr gadget unless you really want to. Otherwise stick with your current camera and learn the basic of composition. Once you are satisfied and ready to move on, go ahead with dslr.

Here we go my first posting in month of august. By the way, appreciate if you can take part in wedding photography budget poll. You can find the poll next to this posting (Side Column). Many thanks for your time consume.

Cheers,
